About The Position

This position is located at the PHS Indian Hospital, Pine Ridge SD. The position performs primary functions of a professional nurse supervisor in assessing, planning, implementing, directing and evaluating the care of patients in the Acute Care Department. The incumbent is responsible for meeting the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services regulations; managing all assigned personnel, supplies and equipment on the unit, developing and implementing patient care policies/training.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required.
  • Must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination.
  • Possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse.
  • At least one full year of professional nursing experience equivalent to the GS-9 grade level.

  • Experience in managing nursing services in a medical clinic.
  • Knowledge of nursing concepts, skills and principles necessary to provide professional services.

Responsibilities

  • Implements Patient Centered Medical Home Model within the unit.
  • Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates and prepares schedules for completion of work.
  • Assigns work to subordinates based on priorities and capabilities of employees.
  • Evaluates work performance of subordinates and advises or counsels employees on work and administrative matters.
  • Interviews candidates for positions and recommends appointments, promotions or reassignments.
  • Participates in the planning, implementation, coordination and evaluation of nursing and personnel educational activities.
  • Plans and coordinates the work operations of the clinics with programmatic responsibility.
