The Salinas Fire Department is seeking an experienced professional to serve as the Deputy Fire Marshal and provide leadership in the Fire Prevention Division. This is a non-safety classification that will provide expertise in the field of fire prevention and collaborate closely with the Fire Department. The Deputy Fire Marshal is represented by the Association of Management Personnel of Salinas (AMPS) Unit and offers competitive salary and benefits. Applications without the required documents will be considered incomplete. The selected candidate must pass an extensive background and criminal investigation check. DEFINITION: Under direction of the Fire Chief or designee to perform fire inspections, plans examination, investigations, and prevention activities; to enforce fire codes, laws, and regulations relating to fire protection, prevention, and safety; to determine cause of fire and gather evidence in arson cases; and to do related administrative and suppression work as required. SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED: General supervision is provided by the Fire Chief or designee. Responsibilities may include providing functional or technical supervision over sworn and non-sworn personnel in areas related to fire prevention and investigation activities.
