The Deputy Editor supports the Editor-in-Chief in shaping editorial strategy, managing content, and ensuring MBN Magazine delivers accurate, engaging, and culturally relevant stories that reflect the brand's voice and vision.

  • Work closely with the Lead Editor to plan, commission, and manage a balanced mix of columns, features, guest commentaries, and cultural coverage in both Arabic and English.
  • Maintain MBN- Alhurra Magazine's distinct editorial voice-sharp, accessible, and globally relevant-while ensuring all content reflects a strong MENA regional focus.
  • Oversee content from ideation through publication, ensuring pieces are compelling, factually accurate, and aligned with MBN's strategic vision.
  • Edit and refine submissions for clarity, narrative sharpness, and adherence to MBN's storytelling standards.
  • Cultivate and manage a diverse roster of regular columnists, guest commentators, and rising voices from the MENA region, the US, and beyond.
  • Guide contributors to produce sharp theses and avoid overly long or unfocused narratives.
  • Collaborate with high-profile contributors inside the company and contractors to adapt their work for the magazine format.
  • Work with podcast and video teams to ensure seamless integration of multimedia content into the magazine.
  • Ensure visual and video elements enhance the storytelling and maintain a premium magazine aesthetic.
  • Commission and oversee in-depth cultural and societal stories, ensuring they connect to broader news and regional narratives.
  • Develop recurring cultural segments for Al-Diwan to reinforce the magazine's brand identity.
  • Uphold the magazine's identity within MBN-Alhurra-visually distinct, intellectually elevated, and regionally focused.
  • Ensure all stories meet high editorial standards in tone, design, and presentation.
  • Monitor audience feedback and analytics to refine editorial strategy and expand readership among elite MENA and Western audiences.
  • Coordinate with social media and marketing teams to promote magazine content effectively.
  • Perform additional job-related duties and take on new responsibilities as needed based on organizational requirements and circumstances.
  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Media, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of editorial or magazine experience, including content planning and editing.
  • Strong writing and editing skills in Arabic and English.
  • Proven ability to guide contributors and manage diverse voices.
  • Experience with multimedia integration and content management systems (CMS).
  • Knowledge of SEO and digital publishing best practices.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and maintain high editorial standards under pressure.
