About The Position

Maintain accurate records for the District Clerk's Office and the district courts. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: May include any of the following representative duties, knowledge, and skills. This is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and duties performed and employees may be assigned duties which are not listed below. Employees are required to be in attendance and prepared to begin work at their assigned work location on the specified days and hours. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent or at the discretion of the District Clerk or designee.
  • The ability to read and comprehend
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with judges, managers, supervisors, employees, external public agencies and organizations, attorneys' law firms, bail bond companies, process servers and the general public
  • Using initiative, discretion and decision making within established procedures, guidelines and rules
  • Performing various mathematical calculations
  • Performing effectively under stressful working conditions
  • Providing effective customer service
  • Multi-tasking
  • Operating a personal computer and various software applications

Responsibilities

  • Customer service - will have direct contact with the public in person and by phone
  • Maintain accurate records of all documents and files
  • Assist attorneys, court staff, and/or the public in accessing case records
  • Answer phones and direct calls to proper departments
  • Open, file stamp, and sort incoming mail
  • Receipt and maintain payment records
  • Process court pleadings, orders, bench warrants, capias, subpoenas, summons, issue civil/family service and other various correspondence
  • Open, close, and audit a till
  • Maintain confidentiality of records as required by law
  • File and process paperwork filed over the counter, through the mail (USPS), and/or through the electronic service providers
  • Assist the public with the public computers
  • Any other duties assigned by the District Clerk or designee
