There is currently one full-time, fixed term position available under this Grant, which is scheduled to end on September 30, 2025, unless grant funding is again renewed for the 2025-2026 fiscal grant year. The position will be filled at either a Deputy District Attorney I level or a Deputy District Attorney II level. The fixed-term position will vertically prosecute repeat DUI offenders and handle cases throughout each step of the criminal process, prosecuting both alcohol and drug-impaired driving cases at the felony and misdemeanor levels. Prosecution team members will work with the state's Traffic Safety Resource Prosecutor Program as well as local law enforcement agencies to implement best practices and expand knowledge and resources in this area. In addition, some of the other duties are: conducting pretrial interviews with victims, witnesses, experts, defense attorneys, and arresting officers; preparing cases for preliminary hearings, PC §1538.5 hearings, jury trials, and sentencings; advising law enforcement agencies regarding legal and evidentiary matters; issuing criminal complaints; preparing search warrants and arrest warrants; and conducting community outreach. The current grant period runs from October 1, 2024, through September 30, 2025. The position is fixed-term, full-time, and benefited.
