The Global Clinical Immunology (GCI) organization, part of Late Stage Global Immunology within Vaccines R&D, specializes in developing, validating, and deploying regulated bioanalytical assays to assess immune responses to vaccines throughout their lifecycle. Requirements

  • PhD with 5+ years of industry experience, or MS with 8+ years, or BS with 10+ years experience.
  • Degree in immunology, microbiology, virology, biochemistry, or a related field
  • 3+ years experience working in a regulated laboratory as a research scientist or laboratory manager preferably in pharma R&D
  • Experience managing teams of 5+ individuals
  • Extensive expertise in cell-based neutralization and functional assays for viral targets such as flu, dengue, rabies, and RSV is required.
  • Familiar with serum neutralization assays, plaque reduction neutralization assays, Microneutralization type assays and Hemagglutination inhibition (HAI) assays.
  • Experience with quality systems and processes in a regulated environment.
  • Expertise with LIMS systems, reagent characterization and qualification, and maintenance of laboratory equipment and supplies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team that develops, validates, and executes cell-based neutralization and functional assays for viral targets associated with one or more projects.
  • Operates with a holistic view of all projects supported by the GCI Virology platform, working closely with the GCI Virology Platform Lead to implement the design and execution strategy for clinical assay development.
  • Optimize existing methodologies in virology, delivering high-quality results in a GCLP-regulated environment.
  • Represent the team on project, process, and investigation teams, ensuring appropriate planning, organization, and resource allocation.
  • Oversees operational and clinical testing activities of staff working in the laboratory.
  • Provides personnel development and performance feedback.
  • Ensures that new employees are appropriately trained/on-boarded and familiar with laboratory operational requirements
  • May have responsibilities as subject matter expert to provide scientific and technical support to internal and external clinical assays throughout development, validation and life cycle management.
  • Collaborate closely with the GCI Virology Platform Lead, global project teams and immunology team leads.
  • Act transversally (including with global transversal operations) to build and optimize novel bioanalytical methods for fast-moving projects to maximize scientific quality and timeliness whilst operating within budget targets.
  • Act as a contributing author to high-quality publications describing assay development and/or the immunogenicity and efficacy of candidate and approved drugs in technical, medical, or scientific journals.
