The City of Portage is looking for a professional and dedicated leader to join our Department of Public Works! What You'll Do: The selected candidate will manage the procurement, maintenance and repair of all city vehicles, including staff automobiles, police and fire vehicles, trucks, maintenance/construction equipment, other related mechanical devices, and the general maintenance of all city buildings. This position provides leadership to the employees assigned to the Fleet and Facilities Division. What We're Looking For: Bachelor’s degree in equipment maintenance, business administration, public administration, or a related field. Five to seven years of managerial experience and experience in the repair and maintenance of automotive equipment and facilities maintenance is required or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A valid State of Michigan Driver’s License is required once hired. A Class B CDL with air brake endorsement preferred. Ability to respond to common inquiries or concerns from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write reports and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, blueprints, construction drawings, site plans, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to communicate professionally to all levels of management, City Council, media, contractors, and the general public, as well as federal, state, and local agencies. Proficiency in the use of a PC (MS Office) and other office equipment. Why Join Us? Pay range for the position is $74,800 - $101,200, commensurate with experience. Excellent benefits.
