About The Position

The New York State Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) is looking for a creative, innovative leader capable of executing strategic decisions to serve as Deputy Director of Regional Office Region. This position serves at the pleasure of the Commissioner of OPWDD. The OPWDD operates 5 Regional Field Offices throughout New York State. Each Regional Field Office (RFO) is responsible for the planning and oversight of a comprehensive and integrated system of person-centered services, supports and advocacy for persons with developmental disabilities. The RFO Deputy Directors, along with the regional office staff, will work with families, providers, and individuals in creating a responsive, accessible service system that provides choice and flexibility. Generally, the Deputy Director will be responsible for the development of supports and services and provide performance measurements for continuous quality improvement. Driven by the mission, vision, and values of OPWDD, the Deputy Director will work in partnership with not-for-profit service providers to achieve high quality performance in meeting the needs of the Region's citizens with developmental disabilities and their families. As one of the Commissioner's representatives in the region, the Deputy Director promotes the Commissioner's vision of improving our system of services by strengthening our workforce, transforming our system through innovation and change and enhancing person centered supports. This leadership position within the RFO will require flexibility which provides oversight to the nine units that make up the RFO: Eligibility, Front Door, Waiver, Self-Direction, Development, Housing, Fiscal, Crisis and QMTA. When needed assignment of units may shift to meet the demands of the Regional Field Office to achieve their goals.
