A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A DEPUTY COURT CLERK As a Deputy Court Clerk, you spend your day responding to customers regarding legal options to satisfy cases, including fines, trials or hearings, driver's safety, deferred dispositions, warrants, extensions, and posting of bonds. Your work typically involves updating case files in the Court's case management system as contact is made with customers, judges, prosecutors, defense attorneys, witnesses and others. Prepare and processes traffic and parking citations filed by the Edinburg Police Department and other agencies. Your job is essential to the city, you monitor cases for compliance, process cases in accordance with legal requirements, and prepare documentation for the judge and prosecutor. You are constantly on your toes and ready for any new and unexpected challenges that may arise in the city. This can include administrating oaths and prepares complaints, summons and subpoenas. When you aren't assisting others you're running reports, gathering files and information, taking payments, performing customer service related duties, and other duties as required. You enjoy being helpful and have no problem providing assistance and support to other divisions within the department as needed. The city needs someone like you with skills in customer service, public relations, and you find genuine enjoyment in what you do!

Requirements

  • High school diploma, G.E.D. or equivalency
  • Requires one (1) year experience of clerical experience
  • Must be able to type 30 WPM
  • Must have a current and valid class "C" driver's license from the Texas Department of Public Safety

Nice To Haves

  • Community college, vocational business, technical or correspondence school certificates are likely sources
  • One (1) year of experience in court procedures or in a related field.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
