Under the direction of a Commander, the Deputy Commander is responsible for a specific section and/or project within a designated geographical area or specialty unit. Assignments to division/section are assigned at the discretion of Chief of Police. A Deputy Commander may be appointed by the Chief of Police from internal or external applicants at the rank of Lieutenant or above. This is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug/alcohol testing. This is an unclassified at-will position.
