About The Position

The incumbent will support the Clerk to the Board of County Commissioners and in his/her absence will assume responsibilities required to continue the operation of the office. This includes preparing agendas for Board meetings and notifying Commissioners, appropriate County staff, news media, and other interested parties of the location, dates, and times of Board meetings; posting the agenda to the County's website. The role also involves coordinating meetings with the Commissioners and other officials as necessary, ensuring the availability of rooms, equipment, materials, and refreshments; sending out meeting announcements and confirming attendees. Additional responsibilities include greeting visitors, answering phones, directing calls, managing professional documentation, responding to emails with urgency, composing accurate minutes, reports, and correspondence, preparing journal entries, appointments, awards, and mementos of appreciation, receiving and distributing incoming mail, managing all outgoing mail, coordinating meetings, and managing travel arrangements. The incumbent will also send contracts to appropriate departments for Board action, maintain files and records in an orderly manner, preserve records in accordance with State law and the County's retention schedule, and perform additional duties and assignments as requested.
