About The Position

The Deputy Clerk (Grade 8) is assigned operational responsibilities in a high volume, fast paced office with frequent deadlines. Ensures court's instructions are executed and legal documents prepared with accuracy and in accordance with state and local policies. Must provide excellent customer service in person and by phone. Assist and back-up other staff when needed. This position performs case processing duties for traffic, criminal and civil cases. Duties include processing, preparing, and maintaining case files, providing customer service, assisting customers, attorneys, and court related agencies regarding questions/procedures in person and by telephone, in a professional manner adhering to office guidelines and policies. Receives filings/new cases, reviews and processes documents as presented at the counter or by mail. Reviews and processes warrants, traffic summonses, subpoenas, bond forfeitures, appeals, unlawful detainers and warrant in debts. Receives, enters, and accounts for all monies received by the court for fines, court costs and other fees. Answers inquiries from the public and provides information about the status of cases, procedures, and hearing dates within the office guidelines. Must be able to multitask and assume additional responsibilities as assigned by management. Must be able to take initiative and be able to handle a high-volume workload while maintaining accuracy.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Considerable court, business, or office related experience preferred.
  • Highly organized with significant knowledge in personnel management, time management, and performance management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Advanced knowledge of office automation systems and computer software required.

  • Court experience preferred.
  • Experience handling money preferred.
