About The Position

Quantum Space is redefining mobility and maneuverability in space. Our high-mobility spacecraft platforms support national security, civil, and commercial missions with unmatched flexibility and propulsion capability. We build fast and iterate quickly. We are seeking a Deputy Chief, Systems Engineering to provide systems engineering leadership and technical direction for national security space and missile defense programs. This role partners with the Chief Engineer to ensure system architecture, requirements, verification, and technical execution are aligned across all elements of the system.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 10+ years of systems engineering experience on complex aerospace or defense systems.
  • Experience with requirements decomposition, interface management, and verification planning.
  • Strong technical leadership and communication skills across engineering disciplines.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
  • To comply with U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including ITAR, applicants must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual per 8 U.S. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

Nice To Haves

  • Missile defense, interceptor, or spacecraft systems engineering experience.
  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) practices and tools.
  • Active U.S. security clearance or eligibility to obtain one.

Responsibilities

  • Support technical direction and systems engineering execution across complex national security space programs.
  • Lead requirements development, allocation, interface definition, and verification planning.
  • Coordinate systems engineering activities across multiple vehicle elements and teams.
  • Support technical reviews, trade studies, and technical risk management.
  • Promote systems engineering best practices and execution discipline across the program.
