About The Position

Deputy Chief, Office of Housing Support The Deputy Chief of the Office of Housing Support (OHS) is responsible for programmatic administration and staff management for the Housing Trust Fund (HTF), Supportive Housing (SH), and Community Investments (CI) divisions of OHS at the Department of Development. This is an in-office position that is responsible for other in-office staff and field staff working remotely across the state. The OHS office provides funding for a variety of programs including, but not limited to, homeless shelters operations, rental assistance, affordable housing development, and workforce housing development through several grantees. The Deputy Chief must possess extensive knowledge in local, state, and federal law for this position as the funding sources vary for each program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Public/Business Administration, City & Regional Planning, Urban Planning, Political Science or closely related area OR equivalent work experience.
  • Substantial experience in government or non-profit program administration.
  • Demonstrated supervisory/management experience to include hiring, evaluating, training, and motivating staff.
  • Previous experience developing and managing an operating budget.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience administering housing programs including grant administration preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the OHS daily operations, supervise team members, coordinate workload and assignments, evaluate performance, and establish program goals and objectives.
  • Coordinate annual grant administration for communities and nonprofits statewide, including review, agreement issuance, financial monitoring, and closeout.
  • Provide accurate, timely customer service and guidance to internal and external stakeholders; escalate sensitive issues as needed.
  • Analyze information, maintain current program knowledge, and identify effective solutions.
  • Monitor federal and state legislation and develop or update programs to align with state priorities.
  • Represent the department at meetings and presentations; serve as liaison to internal divisions and external partners.
