The New York City Law Department is accepting applications from admitted attorneys for the position of Deputy Chief of the Economic Development Division. The Economic Development Division represents the City in highly visible and complex real estate development and other public sector transactions. Division attorneys represent the City in structuring, negotiating and drafting a wide range of real estate and business transactions relating to projects such as the redevelopment of the Kingsbridge Armory, the reshaping of the City’s waterfront (e.g., South Street Seaport, and Brooklyn Marine Terminal), infrastructure projects such as the leasing of the City’s airports, the High Line and matters involving MTA and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and mixed-use developments to advance affordable housing such as Bronx Point and Willets Point. Division attorneys also participate in planning and shaping of neighborhoods through large scale projects such as Hudson Yards, SPARC Kips Bay and Gansevoort Square, and specialty projects such as Hunts Point Food Distribution Center and the casino transactions in Flushing, Queens and Ferry Point, Bronx. The Deputy Chief will report to the Chief of the Economic Development Division. The Deputy Chief will assist in the management of attorneys and staff of the Division and the work of the Division, and counsel senior officials at City Hall, various City agencies and NYC EDC, as well as handle discrete projects.
