About The Position

The Deputy Chief Credit Officer is responsible for providing direct oversight in the management of the Bank’s lending function through participation in various committees, mentorship of the loan officers and administration of all lending function processes and portfolio risk management practices. This position is a member of the Lending Committee and is responsible for reviewing and approving loan submissions within the designated lending authority.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • 20+ years loan structuring, documentation and loan servicing experience.
  • Clear understanding of the English Language (Spoken & Written).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Experience with Laserfiche imaging application and Financial Tools CASH application.
  • Core understanding of Credit Policy and Loan Documentation & Procedures Manuals.
  • Basic Mathematics Skills.
  • Strong typing skills.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Critical Thinking, Judgment & Problem Solving Skills.
  • Ability to actively listen & learn.
  • Ability to communicate with Supervisors and Co-workers respectfully.
  • Ability to effectively deal with unpleasant, angry or discourteous people.

  • Prior electronic credit product experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Bank’s lending function, portfolio management, loan policies/procedures and daily lending process functionality.
  • Direct credit related processes and philosophy for consistent analytics within the loan underwriting functions.
  • Set a standard for loan officers and Credit Administrators that encourages their decision making abilities through positive criticism and training.
  • Review and approve loan submissions, including Residential Lending submissions, within lending authority.
  • Assist loan officers with questions regarding loan products, structuring, evaluating and granting new and modifying existing loans.
  • Provide timely responses to branch loan approval requests granted that the request is complete.
  • Provide instructional and mentoring advice to loan officers and lending staff regarding proper structuring, pricing and presentation of loans for approval.
  • Provide direct management for the environmental risk and appraisal procurement/review personnel and processes.
  • Review and approve draw requests and inspection reports for the Bank’s construction loan portfolio.
  • Review and approve periodic reimbursement requests for insurance damage repair projects.
  • Manage Lending Committee members providing oversight for reviewing and recommending loan requests.
  • Provide direct management of Electronic Card Services group to approve limits and sign off on annual reviews.
  • Manage periodic reviews of approved limits and risk thresholds within client relationships.
  • Manage lending related audit responses to identify compliance or credit issues.
  • Serve as the direct liaison between Credit Administration and Loan Audit.
  • Communicate with third party auditors and Regulatory Agencies as necessary.
  • Participate in various committees and meetings as designated by the Chief Credit Officer.
  • Assist in various portfolio risk management assessment strategies.
  • Provide oversight for Loan Documentation Unit and Credit Administration Services.
  • Provide oversight to the management of external legal engagement.
  • Provide oversight for Escrow Department processes and policies.
  • Provide oversight to the Special Assets Department.
