About The Position

The Deputy CAD Manager will support the CAD Manager in overseeing the development, implementation, and maintenance of CAD standards and workflows for Digital Practice and Technology projects. This role ensures design accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with industry and client standards while mentoring CAD technicians and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

Requirements

BA/BS Civil Engineering, Drafting, or related field and 4 years of experience in CAD design for transportation infrastructure or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or educaton
Experience in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MicroStation; knowledge of BIM workflows
Knowledgeable in transportation design standards (AASHTO, DOT guidelines)
Proficient in organizational and communication skill

Nice To Haves

Experience with 3D modeling and visualization tools.
Experience with LiDAR feature extraction
Familiarity with project collaboration platforms (ProjectWise, BIM 360).
Knowledge of scripting or automation for CAD efficiency
Experience leading and mentoring teams in fast-paced environments

Responsibilities

Assist in managing CAD production for transportation projects, site survey, and right-of-way projects.
Develop and expand standard practices and procedures related to survey and LiDAR processing.
Maintain and enforce CAD standards, templates, and workflows across all design teams.
Coordinate with engineers and project managers to ensure timely and accurate deliverables.
Provide technical support and troubleshooting for CAD software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, etc.).
Train and mentor CAD technicians on best practices and emerging technologies.
Support BIM integration and digital design initiatives for infrastructure projects.
Develop and expand CAD QAQC practices and procedures.
Monitor quality control of CAD deliverables and ensure compliance with DOT and client specifications
Participate in software upgrades, testing, and implementation of new tools.
