About The Position

The member performs administrative and legal duties and tasks specific to the position. Position requires exercise of discretion, independent judgement and independent thought. The most important and essential job function of the position is attitude which includes the following: interacting positively and cooperating with co-workers, responding politely to customers, working as a team member, functioning under intense time pressure and responding in a positive manner to supervision. The Deputy Associate Staff Attorney shall perform any other duties and tasks that may be required and shall have the physical, mental and emotional abilities to perform the essential job duties of the position.

Responsibilities

  • Read and approve General Orders
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings
  • Maintain liaison to State Attorney's Office and other government entities
  • Provide legal bulletins to members
  • Perform liaison functions on legislation
  • Deliver speeches
  • Serve on training committee
  • Prepare CALEA inspection reports
  • Provide legal opinions to requests
  • Represent PCSO in quasi-criminal/civil and criminal cases
  • Represent PCSO in major lawsuits
  • Act as liaison with other attorneys
  • Review and negotiate contracts
  • Analyze public records requests
  • Draft legal documents
  • Consult in disciplinary matters
  • Respond to shootings/serious accidents
  • Obtain warrants for blood borne pathogen tests
  • Manage minor claims resolution
  • Provide legal counsel and execute duties of a confidential task
