The position involves performing clerical and administrative functions for the department. The role requires answering the telephone, making patient appointments for physicians using computer scheduling, and routing clinical questions and emergency calls to clinical staff or physicians according to established policy. Additionally, the role includes reviewing patient paperwork for completeness, creating and updating patient records, picking up daily mails, and observing strict confidentiality in dealing with callers. The position also requires providing coverage for the office clerk when needed, preparing charts for the next day's patient appointments, and sending welcome packages for new patients.
