About The Position

The Digital Accessibility Analyst position is responsible for ensuring that all documents posted on the Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy's (EGLE) public websites and internal SharePoint site comply with accessibility standards, specifically the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. This role involves designing and implementing structured processes for accessibility reviews, developing training materials, and providing support to staff in updating documents to meet compliance requirements. The position is a limited-term role with a focus on enhancing digital accessibility within the department.

Requirements

  • Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.
  • For Departmental Analyst 10: One year of professional experience.
  • For Departmental Analyst P11: Two years of professional experience, including one year at the intermediate (10) level in state service.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience creating or reviewing accessible digital content (e.g., webpages, PDFs).
  • Experience with Web Content Management Systems (WCMS).
  • Experience creating and delivering training materials.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all public and internal documents meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA accessibility requirements.
  • Design and implement structured processes for conducting accessibility reviews on existing documents.
  • Develop and deliver training materials to assist staff in meeting accessibility guidelines.
  • Support division staff in updating documents to ensure compliance, providing guidance or making necessary changes.
  • Collaborate with the web administrator, web team, forms analyst, and Digital Accessibility Review Team (DART).
