About The Position

The Wake County Sheriff's Office is seeking applicants for the Department Talent Acquisition Specialist position. This role involves assisting with recruiting efforts, including the development of recruitment materials, job advertisements, and managing applicant databases. The specialist will conduct preliminary background checks, manage applicants through the hiring process, and provide support to recruiters and supervisory staff. The position is crucial for maintaining staffing levels and ensuring the recruitment of qualified candidates for various roles within the Sheriff's Office.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Human Resources Management, Public Administration, Business Administration or related field
  • Three years of experience in human resources administration
  • Equivalent education and experience are accepted

  • Experience working with a web based applicant tracking system

Responsibilities

  • Assist with recruiting efforts to include the development of fliers, pamphlets and recruitment brochures
  • Create and distribute job advertisements through various sources to include: social media, professional organizations and other appropriate networking outlets
  • Design requisitions for open positions
  • Direct applicants to our website and assist with position related questions
  • Maintain and update applicant databases
  • Conduct preliminary background checks on all applicants to determine preliminary eligibility
  • Assign files to Recruiters and manage applicants through the background process
  • Compose and distribute letters of acceptance and declinations
  • Assist in the overall recruiting of applicants for the Wake County Sheriff's Office to include: Deputy Sheriffs, Detention Officers, Telecommunicators, Administrative positions, and Medical Personnel
  • Screen and track applicants as they move through the hiring process
  • Provide support and assistance to the Recruiters and Supervisory Staff in the Administrative Division
  • Complete employee separation paperwork and make required notification for all resignations, terminations and retirements
  • Participate and assist with yearly audit conducted by North Carolina Sheriff's Training and Standards
  • Update and maintain staff calendar
  • Disseminate daily roll call
  • Respond to general correspondence to include- U.S. mail, e-mail and telephone calls
  • Collaborate with Detention personnel to determine position needs and maintain staffing levels
