About The Position

The Department of Music, Theatre, and Dance is seeking applicants for a temporary position in Scenic and Lighting Design for the Spring 2025 semester. The position may be renewed for the 2025-2026 academic year, pending funding. The work of this position occurs in a professionally modeled theater production environment.

Requirements

• MFA in Theatre Design with specialization in lighting or scenic design.

Nice To Haves

• Additional expertise in technical production.
• Experience in professional stage production.
• Experience teaching in higher education.

Responsibilities

• Teach up to four undergraduate courses: THTR 221 Performance Lighting, THTR 321 Stage Lighting Design, and two THTR 486 Practicum sections, one in Lighting and one in Scenery.
• Design and produce lighting and scenery for the musical Little Women and a program of staged readings.
• Plan and execute lighting and scenic designs in collaboration with a production design team of colleague faculty and assigned students.
• Use a variety of common entertainment technology including automated lighting fixtures, control consoles, and media projectors.
• Use standard graphics software for collaborative communication.
• Stand and walk for extended periods of time.
• Climb ladders and work on an elevated catwalk.
