The Microbiology Department Manager at Microbac is responsible for overseeing the operations of the microbiology department in Warrendale, PA.   • Supervise department staff and operations.
  • Prepare and process samples according to established SOPs and regulatory requirements.
  • Utilize specialized laboratory equipment for sample analysis.
  • Perform equipment and instrumentation setup.
  • Accurately record observations and data, including basic interpretation.
  • Maintain integrity of procedures and records for peer review.
  • Monitor and address sample backlog issues.
  • Maintain accurate logs, notebooks, and equipment records.
  • Perform laboratory administrative functions such as filing and data entry.
  • Comply with and promote safety and quality programs.
  • Schedule department staff, including staggered shifts and weekends.
  • Bachelor's degree in chemical, environmental, physical or biological sciences, or engineering with at least 16 college semester credit hours in microbiology.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a microbiology laboratory.
  • Basic knowledge of laboratory principles, terminology, practices, techniques, and instrumentation.
  • Ability to prioritize work and manage time effectively.
  • Computer literacy and ability to work with delicate laboratory equipment.
  • Effective communication skills in both written and verbal formats.
  • Knowledge of microbiology methodologies.
