About The Position

The Department Manager for Textbooks at Barnes & Noble College is responsible for overseeing the textbook department's operations, ensuring that customers receive exceptional service while locating course materials for rental or purchase. Requirements

• 2+ years' experience in a retail setting as a manager or buyer preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Outstanding customer service skills to match customers to products.
• Basic reading, writing, and accounting skills required.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills needed.
• Strong problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Support all store operations and departments in partnership with the management team.
• Execute the textbook cycle from setup to returns independently or with team support.
• Use department-specific technology to answer questions about course material and recommend products.
• Maintain a working knowledge of all departments to provide support and guidance to customers and team members.
• Maintain a presence on the sales floor to greet customers and assist with purchases.
• Maintain an appealing sales floor by organizing and cleaning product displays.
• Assist with processing sales transactions involving cash, credit, or financial aid payments.
