Department Manager - Mechanical
About The Position
Colliers Engineering & Design is looking for a Department Manager to join our Buildings Engineering Services team in Rochester, NY! We provide a full range of mechanical engineering services to municipal, commercial, higher education and public works agencies, partnering with clients to design buildings from the ground-up or to renovate existing buildings to optimize their use. Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 10+ years in Mechanical Engineering design fields required.
- Professional Engineering license in New York and reciprocity with other states required.
- Demonstrated effective leadership across large groups of employees.
- Ability to develop and maintain internal and external relationships which support the success of the Company.
- Demonstrated ability to lead effectively and efficiently, planning, organizing, and managing procedures, protocols, and/or staff to achieve desired outcomes for projects and programs.
- Effective delegation abilities to design and engineering employees.
- Strategic and outside the box thinking.
- Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.

- Previous industrial and academic project experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Reviews and manages operations to ensure the quality of the technical products.
- Establishes effective long-range objectives, goals, and plans for assigned team.
- Provides technical and management leadership to the assigned team.
- Develops marketing program in conjunction with discipline goals.
- Advises and assists professionals in other groups when expert knowledge and expertise is required.
- Manages activities so an adequate profit is earned on all projects.
- Reviews monthly productivity and labor hour utilization-rates, reports and adjusts as needed.
- Assigns projects to staff and schedules work.
- Evaluate Employee Performance in accordance with company policy.
