The Department Manager at Barnes & Noble College is responsible for overseeing store operations and ensuring outstanding customer service within a dynamic retail environment focused on educational content and merchandise. Support all store operations and departments in partnership with the management team.
Act as the Manager-on-Duty, providing daily support, direction, and guidance to customers and team members.
Utilize analytical skills to manage day-to-day operations and make informed decisions.
Assign work and provide focused direction to team members to accomplish multiple projects.
Maintain a presence on the sales floor to assist customers with purchases and inquiries.
Ensure the sales floor is appealing by organizing and maintaining product displays.
Assist with processing sales transactions as needed.

2+ years' experience in a retail setting as a manager or buyer preferred.
High school diploma/GED required.
Outstanding customer service skills to match customers to products.
Basic reading, writing, and accounting skills required.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
