Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Supports the Graduate Program Administrator in managing the daily operations of the Politics PhD program, including managing a database of graduate student dossiers, incoming student requests, and faculty letters of recommendation.
  • Assists in planning and executing graduate program events such as receptions, practice job talks, dissertation defenses, and admitted student visits.
  • Schedules work-study students and acts as the point person for fax and copier machine repairs and maintenance.
  • Processes incoming and outgoing mail and shipping requests, coordinates campus deliveries and pick-ups, and maintains office and lounge supplies.
  • Updates department directories, office signs, and the department website, providing general office support to the assistant to the chair and department manager.
  • Plans and executes weekly graduate research seminars, including maintaining the schedule of speakers, ordering food, and disseminating papers.
  • Drafts and posts news items to the Department website and social media, and develops content for the annual Department newsletter.
  • Provides support for undergraduate program projects, such as the Senior Thesis Poster Session.
