About The Position

This position is located in the Cobb County Community Development department. The purpose of this classification is to support community relations and engagement regarding information, programs, and activities of the Cobb County Community Development department and coordinate with the County Communications team. The role involves writing and coordinating the publication and distribution of materials, including articles, newsletters, press releases, brochures, flyers, etc. It includes creating artwork, designing and laying out materials, and editing drafts to approve final designs. Additionally, the position requires creating content, basic graphics, and posts for the department's webpages and social media accounts. The individual will receive and respond to social media inquiries and questions regarding the assigned department, consulting with department staff and management to provide appropriate responses, and collaborating with County Communications as needed. Keeping the supervisor apprised of all media interactions is also essential. The role includes planning, creating, and facilitating programs to promote awareness of the organization's mission and activities, developing materials, presenting to groups, and hosting events. It also involves planning and coordinating special events and activities for the assigned department, creating and implementing communications plans for events, designing, producing, and publishing promotional materials, and assisting with event activities such as setup and breakdown as needed. Maintaining graphic art and photo databases is part of the job, serving as a liaison for charts, documents, logos, graphics, maps, and seals, ensuring compliance with County standards for internal or external use, taking and editing photographs, and updating databases. The individual will conduct research and compile data relevant to the department's needs, utilizing that data to develop materials, programs, services, etc., to help the organization. Other related duties may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field required.
  • Three years of experience in marketing, advertising, public relations, or related field, preferably in a government setting.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
