Rocky Mountain College of Art +Design is looking for a Department Chair for its Art Education hybrid degree programs. The chair is to serve as the primary leader and administrator for the department, providing leadership to all department academic programming, including the current degree offered in Art Education. Chairs provide academic leadership with a focus on improving student learning and success, supervising and supporting faculty, and performing administrative functions such as scheduling, budgeting, and curriculum development. In addition, the Department Chair of Art Education will provide leadership and vision to a growing art teacher preparation degree and implement logistical processes that support a nationwide population of campus-based and online students. The chair will draw on prior experience working in teacher education to address the challenges that arise when educating a diverse population of preservice teachers in online courses, Kindergarten-12th grade observation hours, and student teaching placements. The chair will also demonstrate a strong commitment to preparing socially-just art educators by developing initiatives to lead department faculty and curriculum revisions using contemporary learning theories and anti-racist practices.
