About The Position

The Department Assistant for Occupational Health & Employee Health at UMass Memorial Health Care plays a crucial role in providing administrative support to the department. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of related department administration experience required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills are required.
  • Previous experience with database software is necessary.
  • Ability to use standard computer software packages and applications is required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates a variety of administrative assignments under the direction of department management.
  • Maintains databases and spreadsheets to capture information for various assignments and reporting purposes, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Provides administrative support for the department, including arranging meetings, producing correspondence and reports, and performing clerical duties such as receiving calls and managing mail.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert for department policies and procedures.
  • Ensures adequate inventory of office supplies and coordinates maintenance and repair of office equipment.
  • Assists with the orientation of new department members.
