Shriners Children's Chicago is seeking a full time Department Assistant III to join the Shriners team and provide administrative support for our Chief of Staff and Medical Staff! Shriners Children’s Chicago offers specialized care for a wide range of pediatric orthopedic, bone and joint conditions, including rare diseases and syndromes. Other specialties include spine and scoliosis care, plastic surgery, cleft lip and palate care, comprehensive rehabilitation and spinal cord injuries. The pay range for this position is $27.55 hourly to $41.35 hourly. Compensation is determined based on years of experience and department equity.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED required
  • Three years of healthcare office experience is required
  • Three years of advanced computer skills required
  • Must be able to demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Access and Outlook.
  • Ability to multitask and set priorities in a busy office environment.
  • Must be able to type a minimum of 50 words per minute.
  • Must be able to work effectively and interact with all levels with minimum supervision in a team based environment.
  • Must demonstrate professional demeanor and work well under the pressure of changing deadlines and priorities

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree preferred
  • Three years hospital experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • The Department Assistant III performs advanced level support duties for the Chief of Staff and Medical Staff in coordination with other Medical Staff personnel.
  • Specifically, this role will provide secretarial support for physicians within the department.
  • Primary duties include initiating routine or special correspondence and reports, scheduling tests and procedures for select patients, preparation and distribution of departmental schedules to ancillary departments.
  • Receptionist duties may also be required.
