Location & Schedule This position requires regular on-site presence in our office and in the community working in the office at least four (4) days per week, with occasional work in the community and one (1) day remotely. The role may also require working beyond standard business hours, including nights and weekends, depending on office needs and community events. Who We Are & What You’ll Do The Office of Council Member At-Large Serena Gonzales-Gutierrez is seeking a highly professional, motivated, and community-focused City Council Aide to support scheduling for the Council Member, constituent services, community engagement, manage office budget and administrative operations for an at-large office, located in downtown Denver. Requirements

  • Have experience managing an elected official or executive calendar and schedule
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Exhibit strong attention to detail and a proactive, self-directed work style
  • Take ownership of projects and drive them forward with minimal oversight
  • Maintain a go-getter attitude and a willingness to work hard
  • Be flexible to work outside traditional work hours, including nights and weekends as needed
  • Possess knowledge of (or the willingness to learn) municipal government processes
  • Demonstrate proficient and appropriate communication with constituents
  • Stay informed on current issues affecting the City and County of Denver
  • Build strong relationships with the district team, constituents, community leaders, and stakeholders
  • Be able to work on-site downtown at the City and County Building office at least four days per week
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Two (2) years of years of public sector experience or similar professional experience that included office administration, constituent services, community outreach, public relations, or communications.

Responsibilities

  • Manage calendars, scheduling, and meeting coordination for Council Member
  • If attending a meeting, take thorough meeting notes and provide timely follow-up
  • Track expenditures and manage the office budget
  • Support office logistics and organizational systems
  • Serve as a liaison with City departments and external stakeholders
  • Respond promptly and professionally to constituent inquiries
  • Collaborate with City agencies to resolve district concerns
  • Attend and participate in community meetings as needed
  • Accompany the Council Member to external and public meetings as needed
  • Assist coordinating logistics for events hosted by our office
  • Collaborate with diverse populations and community partners on policy initiatives
  • Identify city issues and collaborate on strategies to respond
  • Build relationships with community members, organizations, and stakeholders
  • Managing an elected official schedule, ensuring time is being utilized effectively
  • Building and sustaining relationships with city agencies, council offices and community partners
  • Drafting and maintaining office documents utilizing various platforms to ensure efficient office operations, including proficiency with Microsoft Suite
  • Working collaboratively with people of diverse racial, linguistic, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds
