About The Position

The Dentist is responsible for the full range of dental care and education provided to patients, including prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases, injury, and deformities of the oral cavity. Partnering with hygienists, assistants, and other team members to provide comprehensive oral health care to patients. Stay up to date on current dental procedures, technologies, and best practices. Maintaining accurate patient records and timely posting to help facilitate billing. Effectively communicating and educating patients to promote and maintain good oral health outcomes. Team members are expected to uphold the health center mission by assuring that patients receive health care that is competent, caring, and meets with a high degree of satisfaction. In addition, staff must support FPCSN's commitment to the creation of a trauma-informed system of care that continually recognizes and responds to the impact of traumatic stress on all those who have contact with the organization, including children, adults, families, caregivers, and staff.

Requirements

  • DDS or DMD from an accredited university.
  • Hold current Dental license in good standing for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
  • Current Federal DEA License
  • Ability to provide compassionate care while managing diverse patient needs.
  • Experience with restoration and replacement of teeth damaged from decay, trauma, or disease.
  • Have an interest in and commitment to public health dentistry
  • Show ongoing involvement in community outreach and education.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough dental examinations and assessments for patients of all ages in accordance with accepted treatment standards.
  • Diagnoses and develops treatment plans for patients.
  • Perform a range of dental procedures including but not limited to fillings, extractions, crowns, and dentures.
  • Utilize imaging technologies to diagnose and treat dental conditions effectively.
  • Provide preventive care advice and education to patients regarding best oral hygiene practices.
  • Provide instructions on dental care as well as administering medication and prescriptions for patients.
  • Maintain an acceptable level of visit productivity as per HRSA standards of 16 average visits per 8-hour day.
  • Maintain, complete, and sign all electronic patient records and check for accurate charting and progress notes.
  • Provide detailed and accurate dental records
  • Collaborate with dental hygienists, assistants, and administrative staff to optimize patient flow and care.
  • Stay current with advancements in dentistry through continuing education, conferences and training in dental public health.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and best practices in accordance with CDC and OSHA standards.
