About The Position

Mountain Community Health Partnership (MCHP) is seeking a full time Dentist to join our mission-driven dental team in Bakersville, North Carolina, nestled in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina (WNC). Mountain Community Health Partnership is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), serving patients regardless of insurance status or ability to pay. FQHCs play a vital role in rural healthcare by: Providing care to underserved and rural populations Offering sliding fee scales for uninsured patients Emphasizing preventive, integrated, and community-based care Supporting providers through loan repayment eligibility, stable schedules, and team-based practice models. Our dental program is an essential part of our integrated medical and behavioral health services, addressing oral health as a critical component of overall well-being. The Dentist provides comprehensive general dentistry services to patients of all ages while supporting and supervising dental assistants and hygienists. This role blends clinical excellence, patient-centered care, and community engagement in a collaborative rural health setting.

Requirements

  • DDS or DMD from an accredited dental school
  • Active North Carolina dental license in good standing
  • Competency in general dentistry, including restorative, prosthodontics, endodontics, and minor oral surgery
  • Commitment to working with diverse populations
  • Strong communication, teamwork and organizational skills

Responsibilities

  • Provide routine and emergency dental services, including:
  • Exams, diagnosis, and treatment planning
  • Restorative dentistry
  • Crown and bridge
  • Uncomplicated endodontics
  • Minor oral surgery
  • Initiate and interpret diagnostic imaging and lab studies
  • Prescribe medications and administer local anesthesia
  • Coordinate referrals for specialty care as needed
  • Supervise dental assistants and dental hygienists
  • Provide mentorship and participate in staff training
  • Participate in community outreach and dental programs
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential patient documentation
