About The Position

This position provides general dentistry services to patients in Marion County Public Health Department (MCPHD) dental clinics. Applies dental knowledge and skills to develop, present and implement dental treatment plans on assigned patients. Educates patients in preventive and basic dental care principles; supervises clinical operations, patient/staff communications, and the dental staff assigned to his/her dental team.

Requirements

  • Dental degree acquired through completion of an accredited dental school.
  • At least three years of experience in providing clinical dentistry to children and adults.
  • Experience in administration preferred.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Valid, unlimited Indiana Dental License.
  • Valid CSR and DEA registrations.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Valid Indiana driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Provides and supervises high quality dental care/services for children and adults of diverse cultural backgrounds as well as patients with special needs.
  • Provides general dentistry using knowledge and skills in preventive and restorative dentistry, periodontics, endodontics, and oral surgery.
  • Refers patients with dental conditions that cannot be treated within the scope of the public health dental Clinic.
  • Treats emergency patients presenting with oral pain and swelling.
  • Follows emergency protocol and if appropriate, administers CPR and supports the patient until emergency personnel arrive.
  • Provides dental services/care according to standards of care and conduct of the dental community/profession and Indiana Dental Law.
  • Effectively directs and coordinates the activities of dental staff assigned to his/her dental team and assures efficient clinic operations.
  • Supervises dental procedures provided by dental hygienists and dental assistants.
  • Makes resources available and encourages participation in activities and training opportunities.
  • Monitors the transfer of chart documents into OnBase.
  • Approves and monitors staff requests for time off.
  • Monitors clinic inventories and manages the clinic budget.
  • Assures that staff adheres to company and departmental policies and procedures, such as HIPAA, OSHA, and quality assurance/improvement policies and procedures.
  • Sets and communicates clear performance expectations for staff; ensures that performance appraisal review takes place at end of probationary periods and annually.
