The position involves a combination of administrative, clinical, quality assurance, and safety duties within a dental program. The role requires maintaining patient records, ensuring compliance with regulations, providing direct patient care, and supervising dental staff and students. The candidate will also participate in community health promotion and educational activities.

  • Records, prepares and maintains patients chart information into Dentrix and other data systems.
  • Ensures patient documentation is fully completed.
  • Ensures procedural codes are recorded accurately and authorized in the patient's record.
  • Assists in the development of relevant policies and procedures for the dental program.
  • Assists in the development, writing, and submission of grants when necessary.
  • Provides direct patient care, including examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnosis, treatment, and oral hygiene instruction.
  • Prescribes pharmaceuticals and treatment regimens as appropriate.
  • Records chief complaints, dental and medical history, and treatment plans in the agency data system.
  • Refers patients to specialists and relevant patient care components.
  • Directs and coordinates patient care activities of dental technical and support staff.
  • Provides clinical and educational supervision of dental students and residents.
  • Ensures dental operations comply with agency, funders, and HIPAA requirements.
  • Participates in quality assurance activities for compliance.
  • Generates lectures on HIV and other dental health topics.
  • Participates in community and agency-wide meetings.
  • Maintains agency guidelines relating to safety, outreach, and confidentiality.
  • Documents patient's medications correctly.
  • Ensures each new client receives screening for their risk for suicide.
  • Understands and performs assigned role in Agency Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP).
  • Participates in agency developmental activities as requested.
  • DDM or DDS degree is required.
  • At least three years of related work experience is required.
  • Experience in clinical work with HIV-infected persons and medically complex patients is required.
  • Specific experience in the oversight of dental students and/or dental residents is highly preferred.
  • Florida State License and DEA Certification are required.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred.
  • Computer knowledge should include Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, problem solving, and teamwork skills are required.
  • Ability to work with multicultural and diverse populations is required.
  • Experience in the oversight of dental students and/or dental residents.
