The Hampton Roads Community Health Center is looking for Dentists to join the Dental Team. We are strategically located in the Hampton Roads area which is a metropolitan area in southeastern Virginia that includes the cities of Chesapeake, Hampton, Newport News, Poquoson, Suffolk, Virginia Beach, and Williamsburg. It also includes the counties of Gloucester, Isle of Wight, James City, Mathews, and York, and Currituck County, North Carolina. The Hampton Roads region is known for its connection to water, and includes the Chesapeake Bay, the Atlantic Ocean, and many rivers. It's also home to one of the world's largest natural harbors and is the northernmost major East Coast port of the United States that's ice-free year-round. Under limited supervision, this exempt position is responsible for providing quality dental care to pediatric and adult patients according to the Virginia Board of Dentistry. Reports to the Chief Dental Officer. Diagnose and treat dental issues and help patients develop better oral hygiene regimens while promoting oral health & disease prevention. Provide primary dental care to eligible patients following currently acceptable treatment standards. Assist in both the planning and implementation of Hampton Roads Community Health Care Dental Care Plan; accept clinical responsibilities/duties assigned or requested by the Chief Dental Officer (CDO); maintain, organize, and complete dental records with regard to content appropriate and confidentiality; assist in the evaluation of dental records, Quality Assurance (QA) and outcome measures. Administer emergency care to post-operative patients and comprehensive care to adult patients aged 21 and older for the relief of pain and/or infection; effectively manage patient flow in the clinic to maximize efficiency in production of number of patients treated, total procedures provided, and number of corrective services provided. Recommend changes in staffing, services, facilities, scheduling, or patient flow (practice management) to the CDO and/or Administrator; recommend purchase of supplies and equipment (outside of the regular operating budget) to the Dental Director. Supervise and instruct dental auxiliary personnel to maximize efficiency in number of patients and procedures completed, and to maintain effective infection control practices; share in responsibility of teaching health science students, residents, and other health professionals as the community health center becomes involved in the training of health science students. Performs other duties as assigned.
