  • Meets with patients to discuss and treat dental concerns, educates patients on dental hygiene, performs regular cleanings and other preventative procedures, and establishes a plan for better dental hygiene.
  • Formulates, communicates, and carries out treatment plans.
  • Performs dental procedures, such as extractions, root canals, and filling cavities.
  • Applies helpful agents to teeth, such as sealants or whiteners.
  • Prescribes medications for dental problems, such as pain medications or antibiotics.
  • Orders diagnostic measures, such as x-rays, models, etc.
  • Uses tools, such as drills, probes, brushes, or mirrors, to examine and treat teeth and mouth.
  • Maintains records relating to the oral health of patients and the treatments given to them.
  • Manages and communicates with other staff members to provide care to patients.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, and accreditation rules, regulations, protocols and procedures governing the practice of dentistry and the clinical provision of dental care as well as those relating to, but not limited to, personnel issues, workplace safety, public health and confidentiality.
  • Attends, participates, and/or assists in meetings, trainings, community outreach activities, continuing education opportunities, and other activities as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • In-depth understanding of dental hygiene.
  • Ability to correctly utilize various dental equipment and tools.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills including active listening.
  • Service-oriented and a pleasant and compassionate approach to patient care.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Proficient computer skills with the ability to learn new software.
  • Ability to speak English and Spanish preferred.
  • Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS), Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) from a dental school accredited by the American Dental Association required.
  • Currently and actively licensed by the Arizona State Board of Dental Examiners required upon hire.
  • 3+ years of experience in civilian or military practice as a Dentist required.
  • 1+ years of experience as a dentist in a public health, FQHC, or similar setting preferred.
