About The Position

This position is for a Practical Nurse within the Federal system, specifically for locations in Lawrence, KS, Anadarko, OK, Carnegie, OK, Clinton, OK, El Reno, OK, Lawton, OK, Pawnee, OK, Watonga, OK, and Wewoka, OK. The role requires candidates to have sufficient experience and/or education to perform the duties associated with the position. Experience can include both paid and unpaid work, including volunteer service through National Service programs and other organizations. Candidates must clearly identify their duties and responsibilities in their resume, including the total number of hours worked per week. Candidates must be currently licensed to practice as practical or vocational nurses in a State or territory of the United States or the District of Columbia, or must have applied for such a license. Non-licensed candidates who have completed their training may be appointed subject to obtaining the required license during the probationary period. The position has specific additional requirements for grades GS-4 and above, detailing the necessary nursing experience and skills required for the role.

Requirements

• Must be currently licensed to practice as practical or vocational nurses in a State or territory of the United States or the District of Columbia.
• Must have at least one (1) year of nursing experience for GS-05 level, equivalent to GS-04 grade level.
• Must have at least one (1) year of nursing experience for GS-06 level, equivalent to GS-05 grade level.

Responsibilities

• Providing pre- and post-operative patient care.
• Observing, recording, and reporting changes in behavior of mentally ill patients.
• Providing reassurance and encouragement to mentally ill patients.
• Assisting surgeons and registered nurses in operating room activities, including passing instruments, maintaining sterile conditions, and draping and positioning patients.
• Setting up and operating special medical equipment and apparatus.
