About The Position

The Dentist IV - Oral Health position at Cermak Health Services involves providing direct clinical care to patients in accordance with established policies and standards. The role includes conducting detailed patient histories, performing complete dental assessments, and executing a variety of dental procedures across all age groups. Responsibilities also encompass treatment planning, patient counseling, and prescribing medications within the scope of practice. The position is full-time, with a shift from 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) OR Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) dental degree from an accredited dental school.
  • Current and unrestricted Dental license in the State of Illinois.
  • Current and unrestricted federal controlled substance license.
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.

Responsibilities

  • Provides outpatient care in the Cook County Health and Hospitals System (CCHHS), including securing health histories and pertinent information from patients.
  • Examines, diagnoses, and treats diseases, abnormalities, injuries, and dysfunctional disorders of the oral cavity and its associated structures.
  • Develops individualized treatment plans for each patient and explains the recommended treatment plan.
  • Provides emergency dental care and refers patients to specialists as appropriate.
  • Prescribes and/or dispenses medications to patients as per practice guidelines.
  • Implements dental practice in accordance with organizational policies and Federal guidelines.
  • Participates in outreach and educational projects and provides health consultation to community groups.
  • Maintains high standards of dental practice and participates in the training and development of the dental team.
  • Documents each procedure, prescription, consultation, and patient contact in the patient's chart within a 24-hour period.
  • Assists in the development, implementation, and monitoring of dental clinic policies and quality assurance programs.
