About The Position

The Dental X-Ray Technician at the University of the Pacific plays a crucial role in supporting the clinic's mission by taking radiographic images and performing related activities in the Radiology Clinic. This position involves instructing students, ensuring the functionality of radiographic equipment, and maintaining the cleanliness of the facility while adhering to safety and infection control protocols.

Requirements

  • Minimum one-year experience as a dental radiology technician in a dental practice or x-ray laboratory.
  • Minimum one-year experience taking CBCT imaging in a dental practice or x-ray lab.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current California certification in Radiation Safety.
  • Knowledge of digital radiography equipment and usage, dental terminology, radiation safety, and infection control procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct students on image capture technique and monitor their performance.
  • Take various types of radiographic images including I-Cats, tomos, FMX, Panos, Cephs, bitewings, periapical, and Occlusal.
  • Confirm the functioning of all digital radiographic units and assist with troubleshooting as needed.
  • Scan x-rays and prescriptions to the clinic system and export images for providers.
  • Enter information regarding I-Cat images and format reports for internal and external providers.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the radiology facility and equipment.
  • Assist receptionist with patient care activities including scheduling appointments.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Manager or Director of Radiology.
