About The Position
The Dental Surgical Assistant position in New Albany, IN, is a part-time role that involves performing a variety of surgical assisting duties in compliance with state regulations. The primary goal of this position is to promote quality dental care for patients in a stress-free and comfortable environment. The Dental Surgical Assistant will assist the doctor with multiple surgical procedures, ensuring effective communication with patients, maintaining equipment and inventory, obtaining radiographs, and adhering to all OSHA requirements to ensure a safe environment for both patients and staff. In this role, the Dental Surgical Assistant will review patients' medical histories and records, obtain necessary radiographs, and chart and record treatment information accurately. Preparing patients for diagnosis and treatment is a key responsibility, as is assisting the surgeon and anticipating their needs during surgical procedures. Post-operative patient care is also a critical aspect of the job, along with cleaning and stocking operatories, performing instrument sterilization, and controlling the inventory of clinical supplies. The assistant will also be responsible for complying with OSHA, HIPAA, and privacy policies at all times, and may assist with the implementation of marketing strategies such as asking for referrals and testimonials. The position requires a high school diploma or GED, along with a valid X-Ray Certification. Desired skills include experience with radiology certification, knowledge of sterilization techniques, and familiarity with practice management software. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional interpersonal skills, the ability to maintain a professional demeanor under stress, and a friendly attitude towards patients and staff. The working conditions involve a clinical and office environment with variable degrees of mental and physical stress, including exposure to blood and body fluids.
