About The Position

The Dental Receptionist, also referred to as the Care Advocate, plays a crucial role in providing quality customer service within a dental practice. This position involves coordinating patient flow, facilitating communication between patients and clinic staff, and supporting oral health improvement initiatives. The Care Advocate is responsible for managing the daily schedule, handling payments, and ensuring that patient records are organized and accessible. This role is essential for enhancing patient engagement and maintaining a positive therapeutic alliance between clinicians and patients.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of two years customer service experience preferred.
  • Medical/dental clinic or healthcare experience highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of HIPAA compliance procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Post-secondary coursework is desirable.
  • Experience in a dental or healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily schedule and maximize scheduling efficiencies.
  • Communicate fee requirements to patients and collect payments for dental services.
  • Accurately balance daily payment ledger and reconcile payments.
  • Update patient cards and verify insurance information.
  • Ensure charts are organized and prepared for patient appointments.
  • Build rapport with patients by providing thorough information and addressing concerns.
  • Open and close the clinic, maintaining a neat reception area.
  • Partner with the clinical team to enhance understanding of dental procedures.
  • Triage incoming emergency and unplanned treatment calls.
  • Coordinate care by scheduling recalls and referrals.
