About The Position

The Dental Member Assistant plays a crucial role in facilitating a smooth and efficient patient experience within the dental office. This position involves managing appointment scheduling, patient check-in and check-out processes, and ensuring that all necessary information is accurately documented and communicated. The assistant supports both patients and staff, contributing to the overall effectiveness of dental care delivery.

Requirements

  • Six months of health care/dental care or cash handling and/or customer service experience in a high volume customer service environment.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and flexibility to switch tasks frequently.
  • Professional telephone and patient reception manner.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of dental office experience.
  • Dental office and computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively communicate with members and other office employees.
  • Assist other staff members and providers to ensure orderly and efficient patient care.
  • Receive patients during check-in and check-out process.
  • Maintain current daily schedule and document arrivals, cancellations, and reschedules.
  • Instruct new patients to fill out necessary forms and verify personal data.
  • Determine, explain, and collect all fees for services rendered according to patient benefits.
  • Check reception area periodically to assure prompt attention for all patients.
  • Confirm future appointments and enter visit slip data into the computer.
  • Schedule patients' appointments with providers according to established guidelines.
  • Answer staff questions regarding daily schedule and relay pertinent information.
  • Ensure all dental records are available according to updated printed schedule.
  • Respond to chart requests and screen requests for emergency schedules.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and neat reception area and lounge.
  • Balance cash drawer, complete bank deposit, and perform other cash duties.
  • Respond in accordance with established emergency guidelines when necessary.
