About The Position

Supervise all aspects of dental laboratory activities. Responsible for overall organization, employee utilization, and general operation of the dental laboratory. Ensure that employees comply with AU policies and regulations. Evaluate employees and provide advice, counsel, and disciplinary action as required. Perform annual performance appraisals for employees in coordination with department managers. Fabricate all types of precision fixed dental prosthetic restorations for students, residents, and faculty members at the Dental College of Georgia.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent from a recognized state or federal accrediting organization or Dental Laboratory Technician certification.
  • 10-15 years of experience of high quality laboratory operations and or service training.
  • Above average technical ability and a high level of productivity are essential.
  • Working knowledge of fixed laboratory equipment and materials.
  • Ability to operate and perform preventive maintenance of dental equipment and machinery used for the manufacture/fabrication of dental appliances.
  • Knowledge of dental anatomy, tooth morphology, and anatomical structure.
  • Excellent eye-hand coordination.
  • Ability to comply with OSHA & HIPPA standards.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise all aspects of dental laboratory activities.
  • Responsible for overall organization, employee utilization, and general operation of the lab.
  • Ensure that employees comply with MCG policies and regulations.
  • Evaluate employees and provide advice, counsel, and disciplinary action as required.
  • Perform annual MCG performance appraisals in coordination with the department chairman.
  • Monitor quality control of all aspects of lab activities and products.
  • Ensure prostheses are fabricated to the highest quality in compliance with work authorization.
  • Employ the Lab Manager program to monitor progress and employee effort.
  • Using microscopic technology to ensure the highest level of margin integrity, design and fabricate metal and porcelain fused to metal single and multi-unit dental prostheses.
  • Design and fabricate all-ceramic single and multi-unit dental prostheses.
  • Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.
