About The Position

Under general supervision, responsible for assisting dentist in providing oral health care to patients by cleaning, scaling and polishing teeth.

Requirements

• Excellent communication and team-work skills.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Proficiency in computer usage, including electronic dental records.
• Ability to work independently with strong attention to accuracy and detail.
• Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• High school diploma or GED and completion of an approved dental hygiene training program is required
• Must be licensed as a dental hygienist by the Texas State Board of dental Examiners (TSBDE).

Responsibilities

• Evaluates overall oral health, examining for signs of periodontal disease, documents dental history and takes and processes X-rays to provide dentist with information for more complete diagnosis and subsequent treatment if needed.
• Follows through with oral hygiene procedures in accordance with treatment plans as prescribed by an attending Dentist.
• Advises and instructs patients on proper dental care and diet for good dental health.
• May assist with or institute emergency measures for sudden adverse developments during treatment of patients as appropriate.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
