As a Dental Hygienist Float, you'll be integral to our mission, providing preventative care and essential educational, clinical, and therapeutic services across multiple Legacy clinics. Position Summary: Conducts oral examinations, serves as a preventative care specialist and provides educational, clinical and therapeutic services supporting total health through the promotion of optimal oral health. Provides treatment to mostly a pediatric patient population, that helps to prevent oral diseases such as dental caries and periodontal disease.

Requirements

  • Possession of an Associate's Degree in Dental Hygiene from a school accredited by the American Dental Association.
  • Must maintain BLS /CPR
  • One year of experience as a Dental Hygienist, with experience in pediatric patient management.

Responsibilities

  • Review charts, update medical histories, and communicate with physicians as needed.
  • Provide services following dentist guidelines and patient-specific instructions.
  • Record treatments and prescribed plans after each patient visit.
  • Conduct initial soft tissue examinations, including oral cancer screenings.
  • Expose, process dental x-rays, and alert the dentist to observations.
  • Perform oral prophylaxis by scaling and polishing teeth.
  • Apply cavity prevention agents such as fluorides and sealants.
  • Maintain accurate medical/dental records and documentation.
  • Educate patients on diet, brushing, flossing, and use of home care tools.
  • Demonstrate care for dentures and explain cavity and gum disease prevention.
  • Practice infectious disease control procedures rigorously.
  • Maintain dental instruments and monitor supply inventory.
  • Assist Dental Assistants with various tasks as necessary.
  • Attend continuing education programs to maintain licensure.
  • Participate in the Performance Improvement Program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
