About The Position

The Bedford-Stuyvesant Family Health Center (BSFHC) is a patient-centered, team based multi-specialty practice that has a full-time opportunity available for a Pediatrician in central Brooklyn. BSFHC has been providing affordable, comprehensive, outpatient medical and dental services in an outpatient setting for over 40 years. As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), BSFHC serves all of the primary health care needs of families in the heart of North and Central Brooklyn. Our mission is to provide the most professional, courteous and highest quality health care, with dignity, to those we serve, especially the undeserved population, without regard for ability to pay. We are looking for a Part-time Registered Dental Hygienist, someone who is self-motivated, technically proficient and with great interpersonal skills to join our organization that prides itself in a great work culture. Candidate must be able to provide gentle and quality care, treatment plan, educate and communicate well with patients. Responsibilities includes but not limited to: Ensure patients feel as comfortable as possible before their examination Sterilization of dental instruments Conduct initial mouth screenings and check oral health history Identify conditions like gingivitis, caries or periodontitis Clean and help protect patients’ teeth (e.g. remove plaque or apply fluoride) Educate patients of all ages on proper teeth care (by demonstrating, for example, good brushing techniques) Give instructions to patients after operations or other dental procedures Take X-rays or dental impressions Assist dentists with selecting appropriate treatments for various diseases Maintain documentation and charts on each patient

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of dental hygiene
  • Valid New York license to practice
  • CPR certification
  • Knowledge of eClinicalWorks EMR a plus
  • Digital x-rays preferred.
  • Ability to comply with safety procedures, rules, and regulations in order to maintain a clean and safe working environment
  • Strong working knowledge of dental terminology, equipment, and practices
  • Experience working in community-based health care settings is also preferred
  • Experience/An understanding of EMRs is helpful.
  • The ability to demonstrate teamwork and effective interpersonal relations skills is imperative.
  • Excellent written/oral communication and computer skills are required.
  • Ability to foster and maintain a positive working relationship in a multidisciplinary team and clients
