About The Position
The Dental Hygienist position at East Carolina University's School of Dental Medicine is a full-time role located in Thomasville, NC, specifically within Davidson County. This position is integral to the operation of dental clinics that serve both educational purposes for dental students and residents, as well as providing essential dental care to the underserved populations of North Carolina. The School of Dental Medicine is committed to addressing oral health care needs through its various clinics, which include both the main facility in Greenville and Community Service Learning Centers across the state. As a Dental Hygienist, you will work under the direct supervision of a qualified dentist, performing a variety of clinical tasks that are crucial for patient care. Your responsibilities will include reviewing and revising patient histories, recording vital signs, and performing thorough oral prophylaxes, which involve the use of ultrasonic cleaning devices, scaling instruments, and polishing techniques. You will also educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, apply topical fluorides and occlusal sealants, and assist in the management of patient records and treatment plans. In addition to clinical duties, this role involves participation in the education of dental students and residents, reinforcing the importance of preventive care and proper nutritional guidance. The position requires a commitment to maintaining a clean and organized work environment, including the sterilization and maintenance of dental instruments and equipment. You will also be expected to assist with front desk duties and participate in staff meetings, contributing to a collaborative and supportive team atmosphere.
