About The Position

Dental Hygiene Program Coordinator: Role: Full-time position. Serves as the program administrator for the Dental Hygiene Program and is responsible for managing day to day operations. Serves as a liaison between the program and the college system and community. Directs and administers activities of the program in support of policies, goals, and objectives of the program and of the college. Provides leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Dental Hygiene program in accordance with the academic standards and rules and regulations of Grayson College, the Commission on Dental Accreditation, and the Texas State Board of Registered Dental Hygienists. This position has release time to perform the administrative responsibilities of the position. Reports to the Dean of Health Science. Requirements

  • Masters Degree or higher (required)
  • graduate of a Dental Hygiene program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (required)
  • Registered Dental Hygienist (required)
  • Minimum of 2 years teaching experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as an RDH, 5 years preferred
  • Skill in the use of computers and commitment to using technology
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to maintain up to date CPR, drug screen, criminal background check and immunization requirements of clinical sites and Health Science policy

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Dental Assistant (preferred)
  • Experience in traditional and online teaching modalities preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for the Dental Hygiene program, ensuring alignment with college mission, accreditation standards, and community needs.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate program goals, policies, and procedures to maintain program quality and compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to CODA standards, state dental board regulations, and institutional policies.
  • Prepare and maintain program accreditation documentation; lead site visit preparation and reporting.
  • Assist in recruiting, hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating full-time and adjunct faculty.
  • Provide leadership for faculty professional development, continuing education, and teaching excellence.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, CDC, radiation safety, and infection control standards.
  • Oversee faculty and student credentialing, CPR certification, immunization compliance, and background checks.
  • Monitor clinic quality assurance and risk management processes.
  • Assist in the development and management of program budget
  • Purchase and maintain equipment and supplies
  • Maintain clinic productivity and operational sustainability
  • Collaborate with academic leadership, student services, admissions, and workforce development departments.
  • Participate in college committees and contribute to institutional strategic planning.
  • Support initiatives related to diversity, equity, and student success.
  • Oversee curriculum development, evaluation, and continuous improvement to ensure current, evidence-based dental hygiene practice and educational standards.
  • Assign teaching load, schedule courses, and support faculty in instructional planning.
  • Coordinate and supervise student learning experiences in classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings.
  • Evaluate student progress and recommend students for graduation and licensure eligibility.
  • Provide academic advising, mentorship, and support for dental hygiene students.
  • Support student recruitment, admissions, and retention strategies.
  • Foster a respectful, inclusive learning environment and respond to student concerns or questions
  • Serve as liaison to professional organizations, community partners, and dental health agencies.
  • Lead outreach, marketing, recruiting, and public relations efforts for the program.
  • Participate in local, state, and national dental hygiene and education associations.
